Cotinus coggygria - European Smoketree

Native to southern Europe, Cotinus coggygria is a small deciduous shrub with a rounded crown. It has dark green, rounded leaves which turn yellow, orange and red in autumn. It is probably best known for its large, feathery flower which blooms in summer and gives the appearance of smoke billowing from the tree. Grows best in full sun on almost all soils, extremely tolerant of dry, hot weather.
