Acer buergerianum - Trident Maple
Acer buergerianum, also known as the trident maple, gets its name from its attractive three-lobed leaves. Although not well known, it makes a fantastic solitary or parkland tree.
New leaves emerge bronze in the spring, aging to a glossy green. Hues of Orange and red appear in autumn. Flaking bark, yellow flowers in March and winged fruit give all year-round interest.
Grows best in full sun, on well-drained acidic soil, and is relatively tolerant of drought.
