Prunus Umineko - Japanese Cherry Snow Goose
First cultivated in England in 1928, Prunus umineko is an upright tree growing to a maximum height of approximately 8 metres. An abundance of singular white flowers bloom in early spring. This is followed by oval leaves with a toothed edge first emerging light green, darkening with age. In autumn, the foliage turns a stunning orange to reddish-purple.
Due it its smaller height, it is great for small or container gardens. Prunus umineko has also been used as an avenue tree as it is a fruitless variety. Best grown in full sun on almost all free draining soils.
