Corylopsis pauciflora - Winter Hazel

Native to Japan, Corylopsis pauciflora is a small shrub with broad, bushy form which grows to approximately 2 metres high. This plant is unmistakeable in early spring when yellow flower racemes bloom before the leaves shoot. The leaves are green and ovate, tinged red when young and turning golden yellow in autumn. Does best on heavy soil in partial shade.
