Aronia melanocarpa - Black Chokeberry

Aronia melanocarpa is a small deciduous, spreading shrub with glossy, dark green leaves that turn red in autumn. Small clusters of pinky white flowers bloom in late spring followed by groups of shiny black berries. The chokeberry is often used in baking and to produce jams, jellies and syrup. Found naturally in North American woods and swamps, Aronia melanocarpa grows best in moist, fertile soils.
