Morus nigra - Black Mulberry

Commonly known as the Black mulberry, Morus nigra is a small deciduous tree with a broad crown. Heart-shaped leaves emerge dark green turning golden yellow in autumn. during the summer, insignificant green flowers are joined by edible black and red berries which have a slightly acid taste. It is a self-fertile tree and therefore will produce fruit even as a standalone tree.

Best grown in full sun, in a sheltered position, on fertile, well-drained soil.
