Calycanthus floridus - Carolina Allspice

Calycanthus floridus, also known as the Carolina allspice, is a dense, spreading shrub. It has oval dark green leaves that turn yellow in autumn. This is paired with fragrant red flowers that are described to smell like a mix of strawberries, bananas and pineapples. Calycanthos floridus prefers to be in a sheltered location with full sun or partial shade. Grows best in a moist, well drained location.
