Punica granatum - Pomegranate
Punica granatum is a deciduous, rounded shrub with narrow, oblong leaves.
They start bronze in springtime, slowly turning glossy green in summer. Bright ruby red flowers bloom in summer in cones and are sometimes followed by rounded red-brown fruits, pomegranates.
Best grown in a sheltered spot with full sun on moist, well draining soil. Due to its origin, it is drought tolerant. Also, it will only fruit if it is warm enough.
