Acer palmatum Bloodgood - Japanese Maple ’Bloodgood’

Viewed as one of the best purple leaved Japanese Maples. The award winning Acer palmatum Bloodgood is a small, slow-growing deciduous tree that offers fantastic colour and interest.

Acer palmatum ‘Bloodgood’ leaves have 5-7 slender deeply pointed lobes. When they bloom in spring, the red foliage is often at its brightest. Over the coming months the colour begins to darken in to a rich purple/red shade eventually darkening to a deep crimson in the autumn or blood red as the name suggests.

During the later spring months, the tree develops double-winged samaras that redden adding ornamental value to the already magnificent looking tree.

It’s alluring colour and ornamental qualities make it a great specimen tree for a smaller garden.
