Larix kaempferi - Japanese Larch
Native to Japan, Larix kaempferi is a vigorous, deciduous conifer with a broad, pointed crown. It has blue-dark green, soft needles which grow in bundles of up to 50 together, turning yellow in autumn. Small, unremarkable flowers are pink and bloom in springtime. They are followed by oval cones around 3cm long. Best grown in full sun on almost all soils. Does great in exposed locations, including costal winds.
