Juglans nigra - Black Walnut

Juglans nigra is an extremely tall tree growing to heights of 40 metres and living up to 250 years. The trunk is dark with deep groves. Fresh twigs are light brown with bright green feathered leaves. Male catkins and insignificant green female flowers are produced in spring and are followed by edible, rounded nuts in autumn. A perfect solitary or parkland tree which Best grown in full sun or partial shade.
