Corylus avellana Geant De Halle is a cultivar of Hazel, selected for its large nuts. Otherwise like the species, growing to approximately 6-8 metres with yellow spring catkins. The foliage is heart shaped, mid green with a double serrated margin. In Autumn it turns shades of yellow. The edible nuts which follow the flowers ripen in autumn adding year-round interest. Does best on well drained, chalky soil, in full sun or partial shade.
