Cornus florida - Flowering Dogwood

Native to North America, Cornus florida is a small tree with a round, wide crown. It has oval, dark green leaves which turn to beautiful red and purple in autumn. In late spring, clusters of green flowers are surrounded by 4 bracts (large, white, petal like leaves). Red fruits arrive in autumn. Flowering dogwood requires full sun or partial shade and grows best on moist, fertile, well drained soils.
