Acer pensylvanicum - Moosewood Maple
Originating in North America, Acer pensylvanicum is a small maple with an open crown. Attractive white and green striped bark is a particularly beautiful feature during the winter months. Green leaves are large and can reach up to 25cm, turning golden yellow in autumn. It has delicate yellow flowers and winged seeds. Interestingly, the Moosewood maple is a sequential hermaphrodite meaning it can change its sex throughout it’s lifetime. Grows best in a sheltered position, on moist but well drained soil.
