Acer monspessulanum - Montpellier Maple

Commonly known as they Montpellier maple, this small tree was first discovered in the south of France. While similar in appearance to Acer campestre, the glossy green leaves have only three lobes rather than five. These leaves turn a gorgeous shade of golden yellow during autumn and are paired with winged seeds.

Acer monspessulanum is a very hardy and disease-free tree. This coupled with good drought tolerance makes it one of our top picks for the changing climate. Will grow on all soils, including chalk and does best in full sun.
