Our containerised trees are grown using Air-Pots. This is a relatively new technique of containerising trees and large shrubs. The materials used to produce the Air-Pots come from sustainable resources.

It consists of a reusable plastic 'sleeve' which surrounds the root system. The 'sleeve', when laid flat, resembles a honeycomb with slits/or holes in the top layer.

The slits/holes are always positioned on the outside of the 'container' and allow air pruning of the roots. This produces a more fibrous root system, and the surface also prevents root spiraling.

Each tree is constantly monitored to ensure a perfect water and feed regime. The trees are prepared for dispatch using wire basket and Hessian, leaving the airpot to be reused at our nursery for several seasons.

The system is versatile and can help our clients in many ways:

  • No waste products delivered to site
  • Airpot will be reused and recycled by Deepdale Trees
  • Dispatched as a hessian and wire wrapped rootball, i.e. easy to handle
  • Ready to plant (Hessian and wire fully bio-degradable)
  • Easy to anchor
  • Most importantly, a much improved fibrous root system giving better establishment and better transplant resilience
